Very old Nokia as glove box buddy

I have just bought a new smartphone:j I have transferred SIM card to it. I now want to use old phone for emergency back up in the car. Does anyone know of a cheap one off PAYG sim that doesn't need activating/topping up every so often?
Many thanks for any advice

There are plenty, virgin, 3 to name two.
High chance though you will have your shiny smartphone in your presence when you are in the car and as there is a good chance you have inclusive airtime then there is no extra outlay, that said I use my previous smartphone as a dash cam.

Assuming it is an unlocked phone.....

    http://www.ovivomobile.com/offer/ovivo-for-phones/

Sim card £20 - £15 credit so SIM is £5

BUT you get every month on

    Freedom 0
    With free allowance
    200 Mins
    300 Texts
    500MB Data

    Does not obviously include 0871, 0872, 0873, 090 or 118
UK landline & UK mobiles - check their FAQ for info

Had mine for nearly a year and still have original credit -ideal for low users and backup phones
  • Just a note on this,I used a old phone as a spare for the car, when I came to want to use it,guess what the battery was flat,I'd forgot to charge it,out of sight out of mind :embarasse

Yes they do, I have both, my 3 is over 2 years old with still near £10 credit, my Virgin has £20 on it since the beginning of the year.

I thought some phone companies had the habit of cutting off/deactivating numbers/sims cards if they were not used some minimum number of times per year.

    ^In that case
remember to make a phone call/text every now and then - probably best once a month, then it will be a habit..

You don't need to top up, you just need to make a call or send a text every 90 days or so. You can do that when you charge the battery, which you'll have to do anyway if keeping it in the car over winter.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)
