Sunday 8th December This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

Morning everyone
Hugs to all those that are feeling sad/poorly x
Dinner last night was chicken and prawn curry, rice, side serving of veg curry, onion bhaji's, samosa's etc, poppadums and naan - all very nice clean plates all round. Today I will be putting the meat, veg and gravy into the slow cooker before we go out so we will have a meal ready for when we get back from visiting DH's grandad and aunt. We will be taking their xmas gifts and cards.
Was reasonably productive yesterday - got some more of the xmas shopping done, so now feeling much happier about where I'm up too. Have ordered and paid for the fresh meat hamper for xmas, but haven't done much else food wise and haven't really been buying anything weekly to put away - so will go through what we actually "need" versus what we "want" and will make a list and hit the SM and get it all in 1 go or may do an on-line order if I can book a slot. The main thing I need to organise is the other food we will be eating on xmas day, and we do need to re-stock on some spirits/alcohol. We do need sherry, port, malibu, baileys, and some mixers etc. We have got unopened bottles of bacardi, morgans spiced, vodka, brandy, sloe gin, and some opened but still plenty left of whisky, and drambuie. 1 x box of white chardonnay wine, 1 x box of red wine, some beer, and 2 x 4 bottle cases of j20's. So have quite a bit in but still some bits needed. Will be getting the xmas cake ready for the marzipan layer this week, so it can dry out before putting the icing on. Other than xmas preparations, I did manage to motivate myself to do some cooking/baking, so I made 1 doz mince pies, a mincemeat turnover, jam tarts, 1 x bakewell tart and 2 doz cup cakes. Also did another load of washing, drying and then ironing, so now there's just 1 load of washing to go into the TD or on the line which contains DH's work clothes from yesterday - basket is empty at the moment!
Have a peaceful Sunday everyone x
Keep safe and well x

I'm up & have started tidying ready for our visitors, they will be here around 12, I'm serving pork chops in cider with leeks, plain food, but I can't be bothered to make them look posh as they couldn't be bothered to confirm whether or not they were coming, hubby had to phone & check. I've made chocolate brownies for pudding they can have cream or ice cream with them.
Fish fed, hubby & I have a cuppa, time I got a wiggle on.
Have a good day everyone.

Good morning everyone
Chilly and dry here this morning, have just put a few bits on the washing line to see how it goes. Washing machine is on again with towels, bathmats and shower curtain and the bathroom has been blitzed and is sparkling.
Am going to brave town today and try and get my last bits of Christmas gifts for DD and GDD plus a secret Santa for work and something small for neighbours. DH is dropping me off and picking me up as he is much more impatient in crowds and I know if he is there, we will end up going home before I get what I actually need!
Gonzo - I hope you have a wonderful Mad Hatter's birthday party
:bdaycake:
Judi - I am another one who thinks your daughter and her partner are absolutely amazing
hilstep - I am so sorry to hear this and every positive and healing thought possible is heading your way. Have you spoken to anyone about how difficult this is for you at the moment and received any counselling? When I was first diagnosed, I had surgery every couple of weeks for months on end. I couldn't cope with this, on top of still being in shock from the diagnosis, and one day just broke down in clinic. My consultant had no idea how much I was struggling but as soon as he did, he organised counselling for me which helped immensely.
Well wishes for all sick people and pets and hugs for those who need or just want them. Keep well, warm and safe and have a super dayLBM 10/1/12 ~ DFW Start 6/2/12: £82,344 ~ Now Zero:staradmin:starmod::staradmin Debt free 17th April 2015 :staradmin:starmod::staradmin

Morning Everyone,
Yesterday we went to my Sister-In-Law's (who is a photographer as a sideline) and had a family photoshoot. The baby is so laid back SIL got very excited and tried all her props (no other newborn has allowed her to do this). So last night she'd tidied up the baby photos and they're amazing! I'm very excited about seeing the family photos now
She charges very reasonable rates, but never charges us. So we decided to give her a little something, but I feel like we've underpaid... I'll change my avatar next, with a photo we are not using for Christmas gifts.
Today we are having a family morning, just sitting in PJs and watching cartoons
This afternoon we have Christingle service at church x
Dinner tonight should be spaghetti bolognaise but might reorganise as we were going to have chicken Jambalaya last night but got home late and had cheese on toast instead
Hope everyone has a great day xWe spend money we don't have, on things that we don't need, to impress people we don't like. I don't and I'm happy! Mortgage Free Wannabe :dance:Overpayments Made: £5400 - Interest Saved: £11,550 - Months Saved: 240 -
Hi everyone.
Up early this morning sorting out my craft room and having a throw out of things I no longer need or use. It's hard!
Off to A*da soon to get a few bits in.
Going to attempt to make eggnog today!! No idea if it will turn out ok, but we will see! I dont really drink, so it will be non-alcoholic!
More craft room sorting on the cards for today then roast chicken, Yorkshire puds and gravy for BF, same for me but with added veg (probably minted peas!) for tea tonight.
Hope everyone is well and has a good Sunday.
Hilstep - thinking of you.the only debt left now is on credit cards! The evil loan has gone!! :j:j0 -
Hi everyone,
JulieG, great pic, I love it.
Hilstep, so sorry to hear your news, stay strong.
Tru we had tilt and turn windows for quite a while (we installed them so there was no-one else to blame) and I grew to hate them as well.
Hester, how rude, you should have left it and when they turned up given them cheese on toast!
I managed to write all the postage cards last night, though I whittled the list down, just the letters to go in the ones that get them and the local cards to do now.
DH is going to finish replacing the fence which he started a while ago and then had to shelve because he pulled a muscle in his stomach doing it.
I shall aim to get the decs up.
I'm looking at a cat on the fence, since our dog died a couple have started coming into the garden which is very annoying, I wish they'd go to the toilet in their own gardens.
Better go now, I need to get on.0 -

Morning all,
Hillstep you are in my thoughts and prayers xx
Judi your daughter is wonderful, I'm full of admiration for her
Yesterday didn't turn out quite as expected, so after cleaning and food shopping arrived home mid afternoon with a plan to chill and write Christmas cards, a quickie tea and then strictly.
What actually happened, my phone rang whilst in Aldi, middle son, mum what you doing for tea?. Queue him landing at 5 after spending the afternoon making two huge lasagnes, youngest turned up with his gf and dd and DGS came back so eight for dinner
I did manage to write my Christmas cards and watch most of strictly although whose idea it was to have so many kids I have no idea lol!
Anyway we are disappearing for the day today, need to pop to Range and then shall nip out for lunch, that way I can't cook for anyone.
Have a great day xStarted Self Managed DMP 10th May 2017.
