What info does your pet have on microchip?

Had a massive panic attack while updating microchips last week:
6 cats
1 dog
2 of the cats with my daughter, out of london, insured with petplan
4 cats with me, 1 insured with argos, 3 with pet plan
dog with me insured with argos
I was 100% sure they are all chipped with Petlog but hard as they tried they could not find MACIUS THE SPIDER LEG CAT
Finally clicked he was chipped in different vet and called Identichip - yes they got Macius there hurayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy
BUT - with Petlog they have my/my daughter's address/phone number, info re neutering AND info that dog/cats are insured.
Woman at Identichip tells me "oh we do not need this information".
Me - Well, YOu may not but I do so pls put it on. After a bit of ermmm "not sure" etc on her side - she said she did. Will scan him when we go for a booster and check.
The reason my pets have chips is in case they get lost I can be contacted but also and that is important - in case they get lost and something happens to them/they end up at the vets while missing, I want the vets know they are insured.

I have absolutely no idea, other than my contact details. You have prompted me to check though!0

Mine just has my contact details on and their DoB, colour, breed and sex I think. Salem is registered with Petlog and Gizmo is registered with Annibase. I shall be having a look tomorrow on my works computer so will update if incorrect0

Oh they do not ask for insurance details but I wanted to have that info on their chips...for my own peace of mind0

A microchip is a transponder. It has no actual info on it in terms of contact details.
When scanned it flags up a number. However, that number is logged with a microchip data bank, commonly MicroID, which has the information which you gave the implanter (probably the vet) when you had your pet had it put in. Commonly it is basic info like your name address, contact details (phone number/s, email address), pet's name, breed, date of birth or approx age, species ie cat or dog etc, and any distinguishing features of your pet eg all black with white chest.0 -
I know but I requested additional info to be added about the insurance - just in case the worst ever happens.
Thought someone may find it useful that it can be done.0 -
That's a really good idea. Just logged into Petlog and added in the insurance thing in the special features/health requirements box. Hope it will never have to be used, but you just can't be too sure!"No matter how little money and how few possesions you own, having a dog makes you rich." - Louis Sabin0

Never been asked for insurance info when doing any of mine
Good idea & agree you should be able to add it if you want to - but as people often change (some yearly) I can see why they don't do it as standardGrocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)
2016 Sell: £125/£250
£1,000 Emergency Fund Challenge #78 £3.96 / £1,000Vet Fund: £410.93 / £1,000
Debt free & determined to stay that way!0 -
As I said before, they do not ask, I wanted to add it myself
