Not your usual question but I would like to transfer an album I have on a cassette (can you still get cassette players ???) onto an ipod.......any ideas of how I do this???
I've had a look to see if its possible to just download the particular album and I don't think you can but any help would be appreciated.

I would have thought the sound quality will be pants though. Have you had a look to see if the tracks you want are available on iTunes?0 -
Thanks for that.
I know what you mean about sound quality ....and no the album isn't on itunes - its called 'Beyond the Planets' which is basically 'The Planet's' but given a 1980's make over......if anyone knows where I can get a down load of this ........2014 Target;

Ah yes, Rick Wakeman, very esoteric. I had to look it up.

I've got some of his in my collection, but not that one.
Have a look on here
http://mp3sale.ru/release/beyond_the_planets/21489
According to the site you can buy the album and download it in MP3 format for the princely sum €0.64
You've got to really want it to pay that much for it!

You might want to think hard how to top up your account with these folks - bank transfer or card only, since the likes of Paypal stopped cooperating with sites like this years ago due to legal doubts.
Any card details will remain on that Russian system...
Disposable prepaid debit cards anyone?0 -
Wouldn't deal with that Russian website at all....
The good way to get your cassette onto your iPod is to get a quality cassette deck, many of which can be picked up on eBay, a good soundcard or audio interface for your PC, best bought from specialist music and home recording suppliers, and a recording app such as Audacity. This won't be the cheapest way.
If you just have the one cassette to be done, look around in your local area for recording enthusiasts who would do this for you. Don't, unless the cassette is replaceable, send it to anyone through the mail.
The cheap way is to get one of the Cassette-mp3 converters that come in at less than £20. These are built with a price point in mind, not quality, so don't be surprised if you're disappointed with the results.0 -
If you can find/borrow an old Sony Walkman (or similar personal cassette player), just connect the headphone output to the Line in on your PC ... works really well.0
