Update; just got back from a lovely break to find a glowing positive from this buyer ' absolutely bargain and a great seller' .

Hmm, do I assume thy are being funny, or trying to be nice?

It is too early yet to see if my stars have been affected, but odd feedback don't you think?

Forgetting what's gone on already, in that scenario I do the BTI. Block then investigate.

Blocked them immediately they sent the first message, standard practice for me.

Excellent high feedback left and received , and sells on the same account. I am going to email buyer tomorrow and ask if item arrived as I wouldn't want to start a claim on this address if item isn't lost (not that I can for a while yet of course).

I'm also going to leave feedback apologising item hasn't arrived, and try to get in a bit about refunding on day 5, (without breaching eBay policy.)

  • Funny this thread should be on here. I'm currently waiting for 2 items, both ordered 5th dec, one has 3-4 working days estimate and the other 4-6 working days. Tried to contact both sellers this morning just to ask whether they could confirm the shipping (as a seller myself, i'm very aware of how frustrating INR cases are and all i wanted to do was send a polite message) but ebay either wouldn't let me until the 15th or in the case of the 3-4 day one, led me straight to the resolution centre to open a dispute, which i don't want to do. Arghh ebay, you're a nightmare!
Saving for a return trip to America, 3 weeks on Route 66 for our honeymoon just wasn't long enough!

Very good advice. I do this - sometimes even after a question from a potential buyer that seems odd. I do trust my gut instinct. :D

    Ditto.

I've noticed that 'buyers' who ask questions, almost never actually buy! Most sales, buyers just BIN, or Best Offer - I imagine the 'questioners' must fire off the same question to 20 or so other sellers at the same time, as often they seem to be 'cut and paste' and ask things that are already on the listing most of the time!

I'm afraid I just block people who obviously haven't read the listing now, or those asking 'odd' questions - you just get a sense.. I'd LOVE to be able to block mobile phone sales too..

After reading this I realised what numpties ebay are as I had just checked one of my sales.

Sold something 2 hours ago at lunchtime. Buyer not paid yet. Its going to Australia and ebay has put the delivery estimate as being delivered on Thursday 12th December.

What the heck are they doing. Its the 12th today, the buyer has not paid yet and he lives in Australia.

Even if it was a UK parcel I cannot deliver the same day they win it. Now I know why I have sometimes been marked down on delivery times.

    xx

Have you tried messaging them on another account and asking if they have the 'lost' item for sale ?

The item they bought from me is not the same as the sort of items they sell.

i've changed my handling time to 5 days. really can't be arsed now to bend over backwards for the 1 day handling time premium service nonsense. buyers will get it when they get it now. if they have left it this late tough. not at all worried about feedback either. ebay have been more than helpful removing 'slow delivery' comments when the item arrived within the timeframe the buyer agreed to.

amazing how many people still buy thinking they'll get it for the holidays when it clearly shows 'Estimated between Tue. 24 Dec. and Mon. 30 Dec'

I've had 3 people open cases for 'not received' exactly on the ebay delivery date. It's very frustrating. I do get proof of posting with every item so send a copy of that to the buyer and mention Christmas. RM's own guidelines don't consider an item lost until 15 working days after due delivery date.

I've also had a numpty open a case for non-delivery yesterday when the 1st class recorded item is actually sitting in the sorting office after a failed delivery attempt. I looked the item up myself and could see this info, why on earth didn't they bother to do this and now the funds are on hold in paypal!! Not happy.

I also had a buyer asking for the item to be posted yesterday (which I did) as they need it urgently; but didn't pay for special delivery just 1st class. Can't wait to see that feedback
