This will be our two kitten's first Christmas, well their second but they were only little beans at the time! We're going to try and put the tree up this weekend, but we don't hold out high hopes for it.

We've just got over an incident with one of the two eating a reasonable size piece of plastic bag, she loves chewing on EVERYTHING and we're worried about the ingestion of tinsel, fake tree spines etc.

I would maybe give the tinsel a miss then?
Yep...still at it, working out how to retire early.:D....... Going to have to rethink that scenario as have been screwed over by the company. A work in progress.
  • Ohhhhh Elsien (and others!) - you can sooooo tell you're not a cat person! (meant in the nicest possible way of course)

I've not been able to have a tree for YEARS ..... at least since Archie came along (he's just turned 9!) - don't think Smudge used to bother about them but everyone else has!

We've just got ours down from the loft. Hoping CD doesn't think it's there for him to wee on. At the moment he's using the box as a pillow. Hopefully he'll leave it alone, although it might be at risk during his mental moments.

So far, so good. He seemed a bit worried while I was putting it up, but I think it was just outrage that I wasn't cuddling him instead. The bottom of it has taken a battering from his tail but I think it will survive.

  • I was worried as we have an 8 month puppy who has chewed our stair carpet, walls, skirting boards and doormat etc in our hallway but she hasnt even given the tree a sniff! We dont let her in the living room without us being in there though, but so far so good :)

I'm having a mini tree this year. I'm going to buy yet another set of baubles. My cat Jessie thinks the tree is here for her own personal amusement, every year...When I moved earlier this year, I found a load of baubles in random places around the house...and socks. Lots of socks. (I'll admit to not being the tidiest person, mind...). But hey, she loves it! Even if it means chaos all over the living room floor when I get home every day. It's her Christmas too. And it distracts her from stealing my socks for a few days. :)

I think we'll have to. We'll get it out and see how she reacts to it first, but I expect we'll be putting it away.

With 2 Great Danes in the house (3 last year!) and the fact we spend Christmas Day out we haven't had a tree up for at least a couple of years.

Christmas tree 0 Cookie 10 (at least)
Christmas tree lights 0 Cookie 1

Gave up last night and took tree (which hadn't been fully decorated) down. Cookie now seems to have turned her attentions to the net curtains ...

In her defence we have only had Cookie (7 month old kitten) since 7 December and she is still learning what is acceptable behaviour Chez Addiscomber, and I am sure we will try a tree again next year but with anti-climbing modifications.
