New central heating boiler next week.....

Options
Getting my new boiler in a few days and please can anyone tell me if the fluid/water drained when they clear the system and flush through, is in any way toxic? I presume it will be drained by hosepipe to the garden and I don't want my plants/trees killed off. I have an area that it can be drained to which is just grass and I can repair it if needs be. Thanks.

It may contain a fair amount of iron, copper and corrosion inhibitor but that is all. Metal concentrations should not be high enough to cause problems with your plants, i have drained ours to a flower bed many times without any problems.

That's good to hear. I always hope people will have the sense to warn you about any potential problems but you never know! god help the guys when they attempt to balance the system when the new boiler is functioning, it's been a devil to get all radiators (13) up to similar temp. on the current (dead) boiler.

I usually try to drain a system to an area away from the house to avoid water logging the ground nearby.
