It's a normal lock that's on a PVC door. I'm just going to phone them to see what they suggest.. i know I will be getting a locksmith out to sort it out regardless x0 -
bit of an update. just been to estate agents, they have said they only ever had one key for the front door that was lost by the surveyor. So it lies with the vendor... as she has stated on the F+F that all keys for doors and windows will be left at the house or EA. and as that's a legal document she has ticked something that is incorrect.
So will be on the phone to solicitors in the morning. not impressed!
It would lie with the vendors anyway. They are the ones *you* have a contract with. The vendors can, in turn, make a complaint about the Agents and the agents can fight it out with the surveyor (but I'd say they're unlikely to have a leg to stand on - if they didn't notice the surveyor had not returned the keys they must be prett d**m incompetent!
Get a locksmith for the door you have no key to, buy new window keys, and claim the cost (any any incidental costs such as removers waiting time, if you had to be pay that due to being locked out) from the vendors.(if you think it's worth it, once you know the cost)All posts are my personal opinion, not formal advice Always get proper, professional advice (particularly about anything legal!)0 -
I have emailed the guy on replacement keys with the picture of my window locks, he has suggested two type of key so I have done that, obviously if they don't fit il need to do something else.
like I've said before, it was a probate sale, maybe the seller only ever had a key to the front, and never thought about the back door. if it was me selling I would have raised the fact the door key was missing etc. will just have to see what is suggested tomorrow.
when I went to EA today they said they will do everything they can tomorrow for me as it's 'bad for business' I've told a few friends and they have said they would stay clear if they could in the future!
oh well, the joys of buying a home! thanks for the advice x0
