You can freeze bananas in the skin and use them for banana bread or smoothies later. I have loads of frozen brown bananas in mine, you just need to remember to use them! ;) Just take out of the freezer about 1/2 an hour before you want to use them, cut off the end of the banana and squish contents into the mixing bowl or blender.

Tomatoes if you don't want to roast them, can also be popped in the freezer I slice them and open freeze for topping on pizzas.

Apples I would cook up into apple puree and yes this also freezes.

Nectarines can be sliced up and popped into a freezer bag to use in a fruit salad at a later date.

Satsumas can be peeled segmented and frozen again for a fruit salad when you have gathered enough fruit oddments in your freezer, just add apple juice to make the fruit salad. You could also cut them in half and squeeze for some lovely juice.

Peppers, wash, slice and pop into a freezer bag to use in quiches.

Try popping the carrots into ice cold water and then peel and slice to use now or again to pop into the freezer.

Sprouting potatoes I unsprout, peel, and par boil then roast and freeze (hm aunt Bessies roast spuds.) Just don't eat any green bits as they are bad for you!

I have been getting a veg and fruit box for about 2 years now and have learnt (the hard way:o I too used to throw stuff away) that the freezer is a darn useful bit of equipment to have when you are short of time. I am about to peel and slice up some kiwi fruit from wednesdays box to freeze and put by for future desserts.

    hth

(((hugs))) for you and bradley, hope he feels much better soon!

I wouldn't expect organic veg to last longer than about 5 days even in the fridge. Potatoes and some root veg are the exception in my experience.

After 9 days, if anything is salvagable, maybe it could be made into soup? I'd throw everything in with some red lentils, split peas and a couple of stock cubes and see what happens!

    ok thank you.

found a use for the following

    bananas
necterines and some of the apples
the carrots have firmed up in cold water
peppers im going to slice (provided there ok once cut)
im making 2 cottage pies and then freezing these
going to try a go at potato croquets (sorry poor spelling) and some of the roast potato idea mentioned above

no ideas yet for the spring onions or the satsumas (and im not a huge fan of either but refuse to waste any more)

and also found 2 sweet potatoes and lots of onions

satsumas are nice juiced even if the skins are going mouldy.
Try dropping the peppers whole in boiling water for a few seconds. It should perk up the wrinkly skin.
Spring onions can be used like chives, or added to stir fries.
French onion soup for the onions?

dont see why not, i was rubbish at using up potatoes from my box but now any i have left i just boil, mash and make into various cakes/burgery type things. fish cakes would be fine with spring onions, i also do cheesey, veggie burgers with mash, cheese and whatever veg i have left, (cooked and chopped)
hope bradley is ok, both my two have ezcema (thankfully not too bad) and its horrid!

forgot to say, another good use for fruit is to make into a smoothie then freeze as mega healthy lollies!
any combination, especially bananna based works well!
