re: the parcel to the wrong address...there have been cases where a fraudster opens accounts for a similar name at a different address then collects goods saying they were misdelivered. The house owner then gets chased for payment..or a bigger fraud is committed once the person starts getting a credit history at the wrong address.

Surely if the item is 'misdelivered' the address on it would be wrong and not quite yours. If something had my correct address on and someone tried to tell me it was misdelivered and actually theirs, I would ring the company involved.

Unfortunately I have no idea what the parcel had on it, if indeed the parcel did exist. We live on a quiet street, with three houses on it and one other house from the street in front backing on to us. I'm slightly concerned we could be targeted for this reason, although anyone who knew the neighbours and their situations would know that there's people here all day in a few of the houses round about, and that they are very aware if anyone comes into the street.

Other thing that's odd though, if you were committing a crime, why leave a note with your name and number on it. Especially a name which when googled calls up an alarming story. I wish I had actually seen the parcel, then I would have seen the name and address on it. Presumably it didn't have my name on it, but the name of the person who wrote the note.

Yesterday I ordered something from Amazon to be delivered to my cousin for her kids for Christmas. I entered her address manually, no postcode lookup etc. I could have easily entered an address that doesn't exist. Makes me wonder.
  • For future reference the no cold callers door sign found on this website really does work and can act as a deterrent:

Think i better work out how to set it. Will mean locking the cats out but i'm paranoid now. I only live in a quiet little village as well surrounded by fields so not like a neighbour would notice someone jumping over a fence..

Just doesn't make sense now I think about it. Said he was from Newcastle and i'm a good 200 miles away..

We get these knockers regularly. Interestingly, without exception, they have north-eastern accents. I've always wondered why they would be sent here, practically on the south coast, to do this selling.

We get a few of these around here, all young offenders, and all have ID.

I think sometimes it's run by the Probation Service.

Not had any burglaries as a result of it.

You can tell a lot about a woman by her hands..........for instance, if they are placed around your throat, she's probably slightly upset. ;)
