With me it is always lights first followed by baubles then tinsel.

I have two lots of lights for my tree - some coloured bulbs and some clear ones. The baubles I have collected over the years (even some vintage ones from freecycle) as well as more recent purchases from the pound shop. There is no theme at all and to be honest they look fab. I really can't be doing with all this theming nonsense as it is too costly.

I wholeheartedly agree with lights, tinsel, baubles, and absolutely the star last. I had to shout at my fiance after he tried to put the star on top of the tree after the lights - turns out his mum never let him help decorate the tree. Bless.
  • I don't bother with lights, as the tree I've got has the fibre optics lights on it. Otherwise its just some baubles, with some tinsel around the base of the tree.
But if it wasn't it would be the lights, then baubles & a bit of tinsel

i just dressed my tree tonight.

i wind tinsel around the tree first (closest to the trunk), then the lights are strung on it, then the baubles are last. I dont have chains as i have a cat ;).

my dad was hilarious with tinsel on his christmas tree - he would literally stand back from the tree and lob the tinsel at it :rotfl::rotfl:.
  • Lights first! We don't use tinsel or beads, so decorate it after the lights have been arranged nicely.
