Lights or Baubles

How do you dress your tree, I am doing ours tomorrow and never know what to put on first? How do you all do it, lights first or decs, and what about beads, what order do you all do it?
Is there a way that works best? I always seem to get tangled in the lights :xmastree:

Always put the lights on then deck and if using beads the we put them on last.

Lights first, then tinsel and then baubles. And the star at the top last of all!

I find it's a lot easier to put the lights on the tree 'lit' if possible - you can see where they are going then.

I put lights on first, then tinsel and/or beads. Then all the ornaments.

Definitely lights on first so that you can push them towards the trunk and have them glimmering through the branches.

Lights first, then beads and I have a pom pom garland, then baubles, then a couple of bows, and angel last.

This is great, thanks, I shall put the lights on first, but it seems opinions about baubles or beads first is divided.
I have tried beads after baubles and the other way around, still get in a muddle

Lights then decs and finaly angel on top.

I don't have beads but if I did I would put them on after the lights

Lights first, then decorations then beads.
We use lots of decorations/baubles on the tree that we have collected over the years, so it's all mix match, no colour scheme and all that rubbish lol It's a pure traditional tree, before people thought of colour schemes and perfectness etc.

Angel is always last to go on also
