My online fixed energy expires in January 2014. I have an e mail from Scottish Power that I have to sign up by 20th December to get discount on fixed 2015 deal. When does the MSE "Cheap Energy Club" e mail with better deals as there is only 2 weeks to go!!

You only need to dig out three pieces of data and spend two minutes to carry out your own survey of available deals. Your usage of gas in kWhs over the year, your usage of electricity, and your postcode.
Plug those into a comparison site such as uswitch or energyhelpline and check for yourself - that way you can also look at single fuel tariffs from separate suppliers - a permutation that Cheap Energy Club will not inform you about (afik).0 -
I'm on the same with SP (January 2014) and had the same e-mail. However, I am switching to Co-operative energy March 2015 tariff as they faired better than SP for me on KWH's used and price. Also no exit fee with Co-op Energy. I tried phoning SP on Tuesday to see what they could do to prevent me leaving but no reply, just an automated message saying that they are extremely busy with other customers and to call back another time. The call you back facility has also gone. I e-mailed them Tuesday after being unable to get through - still no response as at now (Saturday afternoon). Scottish Power's customer service has absolutely nose dived I'm afraid, they used to be OK to deal with but are disgraceful now.0

I'm on this tariff too and am switching to Co-operative. Having sent the kids to uni the standing charge will now be more of an issue as consumption reduces. As well as being cheaper, the fix is for longer and into the warmer season when I can then fix again. Scottish Power don't end the fix at 31/12 for no reason??
Spark is cheaper but I know too much. My son was lumbered with Spark in his rented house, he was forced to be with them because the previous tenants had issues as did he. After 12 months, only the ombudsman and calls direct to the CEO's office got it sorted. By that time the new tenants were also tied to Spark! How very clever?? Also the price is variable so I think prices may move soon too.
Switching is easy using MSE club or Uswitch or Energyhelpline so why stay? Plus £30 too.0 -
I did Uswitch and am changing to Co-Op. Hope my £400 credit with SP is not going to be a problem as others have mentioned here.0

I was with SP and switched to EDF. When I rang up for my credit, which I reckon is about £100 ( I stopped the December DD as I knew i was in credit and EDF were due to take their first payment). They told me they had to wait for the other supplier to furnish them with readings, despite me wanting to supply them with my final reads they didn't want to know.
A few days ago they rang wanting to know why I left. I told them it was cheaper elsewhere but they still wanted to quote me on their new deal. They then said "Oh yeah right we are much dearer than the competition" so he said call customer services before 7pm to get through to UK based call centre. After 15 minutes on the phone waiting I gave up.
At least it was a freephone but the wait is indeterminable!!:eek:0 -
As I stated above I am in the throws of changing to Co-operative Energy from Scottish Power. I still had not received a reply to my e-mail by today so I tried ringing them again. This time I was offered the call you back facility, the waiting time being 21-33 minutes, so I took it. They phoned me back 30 minutes later. I explained that I was looking to switch suppliers as the February 2015 tariff I had been offered can be beaten. The chap I spoke to wasn't in the least bothered, saying that this tariff was their cheapest and he couldn't beat that, sorry to see me go and all that bull. I've been with SP for 7 years but loyalty means absolutelty nothing to them, so Co-op Energy here I come!0
