Would you move around christmas time?

Another factor to consider being the one about whether you are moving to close by within your own area or outside area.
If you are moving "outside area" the first Christmas could be a bit worrying in new area. Voice of experience time....having just moved to new area and wondering how its going to be for me...though, in the event, what locals I have met to date are being kind to me (bar the stoopid workman factor that is....) and I think/hope all will be well in that regard...but its a factor to bear in mind...0 -
It's horses for courses I guess, we offered in October and I've said all along that I don't want to complete before Xmas. Mainly because we are away over the festive period for a week, but also because I just didn't want the hassle of preparing for Xmas and packing/moving. Have said all along happy to exchange in December and happy to complete as soon as practically possible after the new year bank holiday, but not before. It's only a week or so difference - would your chain not wait?November make £10/day challenge = £874.14/£300
December make £10/day challenge = £98.10/£1550 -
We're hopefully moving next Tuesday December 10th. That said we haven't exchanged yet so we'll have to wait and see. I want to get into my new house as soon as possible, I would move on Christmas Eve if I have to! Go for it!0

I moved into my previous house on 20th December. It was fine! The first thing I unpacked was the Christmas tree! Other advantage was that all my friends were off work so I had lots of help. The world only stops on Christmas Day - shops etc all open for anything I needed every other day so no problems there. Tradesmen were all more or less available and I got a good deal on removals. Everyone was in a festive mood, we had a great laugh!0

As in every year we have people booked in to move christmas eveVuja De - the feeling you'll be here later0

I'm moving in on the 20th/21st
it's not ideal because both me and my partner work in 24/7 businesses we don't get any time off for Christmas, and it is the hardest time of year to book time off
but for most people i would expect it to be an ideal time as the majority of people get a lot of time off over Christmas
there is a long thread on here that pops up now and again about someone who had exchanged but not completed over Christmas and the buyers showed up in a caravan Christmas eve asking to move onto their drive0 -
I'm feeling much less stressed today and have decided to get the move over before christmas the last date I'd be willing to move is the 16th.
thank you everyone for your helpful comments and advice.

Amended that for you.If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales0 -
Houses are major stops on the memory train of childhood, Christmas much less so.
I'd have 2, one in each house. A prepacked, some assembly required shop-bought one as a farewell meal & the full "I've exhumed the mulled wine pan!" celebration in the new place, (but I can see the case for the other way around too).
Aim to lift the family from one place to the next & make _New Year_ the big feet up/knees-up/however you want to celebrate bit?0
