One.com cancellation notice 30 days

Hey folks,
Just wondering what you guys thought of this.
I have a domain and web hosting with One.com and which renews on the 04/01/2014 to 03/01/2015. I decided to cancel this in advance to make sure a payment doesn't come out, however the live chat representative advised that because I haven't given them 30 days notice I will have to pay for the full term. I've now received a cancellation which says I've cancelled for 04/01/2015.
Apparently they send a e-mail with a reminder which I must have discarded. So this is probably just my own fault, so perhaps I should suck it up? It's only £25. But before I pay this, can anyone suggest anything? I have until the 17th to pay and they start charging £10 for every 'reminder'. I have already tried to contact their customer support, but they point me to their terms.

I think you'll have to suck it up. I have a couple of sites hosted by them and they do send reminders by email. They are very good value, in my opinion, and very reliable.Je suis sabot...0

Yeah me too
- Who knows maybe I'll actually start the project that I intended in the first place.
What's laughable, since cancelling they've sent me a text reminder to tell me I owe them money - they could have sent me a text to tell me I had 30 days to cancel."Always fulfil your needs, only fulfil your wants when your needs are no longer a concern" - citricsquid0 -
Well assuming the contract is subject to UK law then The Unfair Terms in Consumer Contracts Regulations 1999 will apply. I'm also assuming here that you didn't take out the hosting as a business.
In the non-exhaustive list of unfair terms, it includes:automatically extending a contract of fixed duration where the consumer does not indicate otherwise, when the deadline fixed for the consumer to express his desire not to extend the contract is unreasonably early
That doesn't give any hint as to what would be unreasonably early unfortunately. 30 days may well not be unreasonably early, but I wonder when they sent out the automatic reminder. If that was on (or close to) the 30 day limit it would be giving you very little time to cancel, which may make it unfair.
In any case, probably not worth fighting for £25.0
