Son recieved parking ticket from Minster Baywatch he wasnt parked illegally !!!

Hi all I am after some advice,
My son received a parking ticket on a street in Bristol where he goes to uni,
where he was parked there was some sort of compound and a few cars parked in there but he was not parked in there, he was parked outside of the compound, there were no double yellow lines and there were no signs whatsoever saying no parking ect,
I know this because a few weeks before we had parked there ourselves when we went to visit him and my husband checked.
Anyway he received a parking ticket from this company Minister Baywatch on the 30th October, he forgot about it until 2 weeks ago, he has sent an e mail appealing against it but he has not heard anything back, he sent another e mail last week and another e mail again this week.
Now that the month time limit is up I am unsure what to do.
Do I just pay it and forget about it I think it is about £85 quid or something, or does he still try and contact them.
Another thing the car is not registered in Bristol it is registered to out home address and I don't want any Bailiffs coming knocking on my door.
Cany anyone give me some advice as to what to do next.
