What's the going rate for the area, it might be the lower payer is just that a lower payer across the board.

    any difference in travel costs.

Don't forget to look at other things like how flexible they are to soft benefits like working hours working from home, time off for appointments etc

how much lower are these rates than the contract rate, I have moves the other way to get more time off as the contracts pay a lot more.

Some geographical areas and IT sectors are short of good people it not all doom and gloom.

I take it you are not in London - based on the salaries offered?

Personally I would got for the 28k with prospects than the 30k on the phone TBH - that is if I was looking for a permanent job (contracting now).

Have a look at the cost/time getting to/from work, flexibility in hours, the work environment in general and as someone mentioned.. company's financial situation and staff turnover.

All the best in making a decision
  • Thanks for all the responses.

Both jobs are in central London.
The 28k takes around 40-45mins door to door to travel while the 30k-33k job will take 35mins. Costs of traveling are the same.

If I take the 28k role the difference of a contracting rate is between 7k-10k, has 25 holidays offered and only flexible benefits.

From what I can see their are far better chances of job prospects for this role as well.

The role for 30-33k were unable to provide me with a propper job spec as there reason was they were going to create this role in January.
Progression according to them is available but dependent on meeting kpis and proving ones self....
Didn't sound very convincing to me with our last chat.

I also have a potential interview with a blue chip company next week which would be like the 28k role but offering 33k.

Either way I have to respond back to them both by tomorrow...
