This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.
Morning all,
Not so cold here this morning no frost at all, off to work for me today its our Xmas fair, there is loads going on along with santa visiting and some huskies ! Its normally very busy all day so will be tired tonight.
Have put a wash on this morning OH will hang it on the line when he gets back from the boot sale.
Did a load of my xmas shopping yesterday, only got 4 to get now so will try and do then next week, then its the dreaded wrapping which is a job that I loathe !
Mums dog got through the op ok, (thanks for the good thoughts) its still very touch and go, but she is eating and drinking and weeing, which are all good signs, she is a tough old girl so hopefully it will be ok.
Not sure whats for dinner might be satay chicken and noodles, will go and check my list.
Have good days all xx

I decided to improve my crocheted stars. I spent yesterday afternoon crocheting a few stitches, writing it down, on to the next bit, writing that down............. I made quite a few different ones, when each one was done I flung it one side, muttering “no, no, that's not right”. Eventually I came up with a small one that I liked, looked at it proudly then thought “Is that IT? All that work for that titchy thing?” :rotfl:

Good morning everyone
I have a car full of bedding which is being discarded from work. Hospital quality duvets and pillows, all almost new and spotlessly clean. We have tried every homeless shelter we can find and they have all refused them as they only accept brand new and unused.
So today I am off to a women's refuge, an animal sanctuary and the PDSA who have all said they will accept some. If all goes well, the car will be refilled and the process repeated until they have all gone.
Need to get going early as they weigh a ton and parking will be difficult.
Well wishes to all sick people and pets and hugs for those who need or just want them. Keep well, warm and safe and have a super dayLBM 10/1/12 ~ DFW Start 6/2/12: £82,344 ~ Now Zero:staradmin:starmod::staradmin Debt free 17th April 2015 :staradmin:starmod::staradmin

Morning all
RR, good news about Mum's dog
Tru, thanks for the song
TTFM, it's a joke isn't it, when you can't give away good quality stuff, just because it's not 'Brand New'.
DGD is asleep in the spare bed, she's had conjunctivitis & an ear infection this week but struggled into school y'day as she was desperate not to miss gym club. I'll let her sleep as long as she wants. I need to go to the sorting office before 12 to collect some parcels, hopefully she'll be awake by then if not I'll leave her with hubby.
Plans for today include cake making with DGD, tidying the house as we may have visitors coming tomorrow for lunch, or we may not, I think it's very rude when people can't be arrisd to confirm.
Have a good day everyone.

Morning all,
We assembled the tree last night - it's one where you hook the branches into a holder on the trunk (aka stick). Last year it took us ages as DH was going through chemo and was so poorly and my hands were swollen - bad memories, but we are better than we were so it went up much quicker, although I did get some of the branches in the wrong order
Today - well, there's the Christmas market down along the road, and then we will decorate the tree. Lunch will be soup, and then I'll iron and finish wrapping the presents.
Looking forward to Strictly :T
I've not opened the un-chocolate advent calendar, it's a treat for DH
Have a good day all xI can cook and sew, make flowers grow.0 -
Morning all,
RR glad the dog is doing ok
We had a lovely evening out with our friends, we have eight kids between us so a good catch up on everybody's coming and going. Honestly I could write a book:D
This morning a good clean and couple of loads of washing and then I need to do a food shop as we've run out everything, no cheese, eggs or bacon for breakfast, I'm happy with toast and marmalade, queue lots of moaning from ds3 honestly that child is ruined.
Hoping for a quiet day to write out my cards later and just finish off the last of the pressies, we shall light a fire.
B&Q have a good deal on coal at the moment reasonable bags and if you buy 4 the fifth is free sowce shall stock up.
I'm another one that loves Strictly it's the highlight of my Saturday evening. DGS. Loves it as well, we usually end up dancing around the living room💃
Have a lovely Saturday xStarted Self Managed DMP 10th May 2017.

Good Morning everyone ,brr a bit nippy this morning but the heating is on so I am cosy.
I have vats of soup to make this morning as I have lots of veg to use up:):)
Eldest DD is in Devon for the weekend with her OH so no coffee fest tomorrow ,but my sis-in-law from Faversham is coming for a coffee and chinwag at some point tomorrow so I want to make sure that I have a few goodies in store.I will also make some biscuits today and maybe a Sponge cake.As I am dieting my biscuit and cake tins have been decidedly empty over the past few months so I'd better top them up for my DGS as I'm sure one of them will apper as if by magic over the weekend.I am sure they have finely tuned antennas when it comes to my baking:):) I have a small amount of ironing to do this afternoon but I don't mind as I can watch some catch-up tv at the same time (I like to multi-task)I also have the Christmas cards to write out and get posted by next week.
I hope everyone has a good day and keeps well wrapped up
Cheers chums

Hi everyone.
Fairly mild here today. Off to Costco at lunch time to stock up on meat.
Currently in the living room with the fairy lights on and candles lit while I watch an episode of Wartime Farm. Over the past few weeks I've watched every series starting from Tales of the Green Valley!
Really need to sort my craft room out this weekend, get the furniture moved round and move my computer desk up there.
RedRuby - glad to hear your mums dog got through the operation ok.
When we were in Nottingham last week I visited The Bead Shop, and BF spotted kits for Safety Pin bracelets, so encouraged me to buy one because he thought they looked fab. It was only £3.75 and you get everything you need in the kit. I've sat and made it this morning. Only took me an hour and I love the results!! Think I may make some more to sell on my craft stall! I have one booked for 1st March so plenty of time!
Hope everyone has a good day :-)the only debt left now is on credit cards! The evil loan has gone!! :j:j0 -
Hi everyone,
Well I wrote a post much earlier but must have forgotten to click post so it's gone.
Seem to be getting my mojo back, I have finished the Japanese Doll for Dneice, never again! Back to quilts and other two dimensional things.
I want to blitz tha house before puttng up some decs, but I decided we wouldn't have a tree here this year so that will save some time.
I will write the cards tonight, watching strictly - DH and I have an agreement, I write the cards and he wraps the presents, mind you I don't think there will be many of those this year so I may have drawn the short straw.
I can't believe how it's creeping up on us, better get on.0
