I know that this has already been posted but i have recently had an e-mail back from Alton Towers saying this is true that you can get in free admision if you take a GNOME... but there are terms and conditions so here they are:
GNOMES GO FREE AT ALTON TOWERS
(A tongue-in-cheek response to ‘!!!!!! to Alton Towers’
by Halstead, Hazeley and Morris
A soon to be released book** vilifies many of Britain’s favourite tourist attractions like Alton Towers, whilst glorifying the merits of some wonderfully unique, quirky attractions like Gnome Magic, the Porteath Bee Centre and the British Lawnmower Museum. These places may well appeal to a handful of visitors, but let’s face it, while some parents may choose the Lawnmower Museum, kids know what they would prefer! So in deference to this, some lucky visitors to the Park throughout May, accompanied by a gnome*, will be eligible for complimentary entry. However, terms and conditions apply (obviously!!)
“Undoubtedly, the crazy, thrill-inducing world of a theme park is not for everyone, but with 2.3 million visitors per year, they clearly appeal to a large number. We don’t doubt that some theme parks are very formulaic, but Alton Towers is not. A theme park that’s set around the gothic ruins of a historical home, that has 18th Century follies scattered amongst the steel thrill machines, calls its new ride “Rita” and let’s in visitors bearing gnomes is just as quirky and eccentric as some of those attractions so lauded by the authors of this book - it’s just bigger, that’s all!” says Mike Lorimer, from Alton Towers.
*Definition of a gnome :
A gnome is a traditional garden ornament made of plaster or concrete – plastic is unacceptable. Note – a dwarf will not be accepted (as in Snow White…)
Minimum height 12”
Maximum height 18” (including hat)
Traditional dress only acceptable (trousers, black or brown boots, tunic with brown or black belt – see illustration)
Long white beard compulsory.
Pointy hat in blue, red or green compulsory.
Glasses optional.
Fishing rod, walking stick or other garden implement optional, but preferred.
Park Entry Terms and Conditions for Gnome Owners :
Maximum of one free ticket per transaction. For safety reasons (we understand large gatherings of gnomes can be dangerous) the number of gnomes on Park at any one time will be strictly limited. This offer runs from 1st until 31st May, unless we decide otherwise.
Gnome assessment will be undertaken by our specially trained, world regnomed team of Magic Makers, whose decision is absolutely final. No appeal, no discussion – if they don’t like your gnome, you’re not getting in!
No gnome will be allowed on any of the Park’s rides and attractions (see ride restriction notices regarding requirement to hold on…)
The Park will take no responsibility whatsoever for the health, safety or welfare of any gnome whilst on its property. It is up to owners to ensure that gnomes in their care do not run away to join the pixies in the Gardens.
Gnomes may attend the live shows. However, rowdy behaviour will not be tolerated and we reserve the right to eject them from show venues should this be the case.
Any gnome left unattended for any length of time will be adopted by a Magic Maker, and will later be donated to a worthy cause.0 -

Thanks for the extra info. I've merged this with the original thread about the offer.0 -
I rang alton towers and was told all above info too. Also it's a max of 50 freebies per day. However, my problem is I can't find gnomes! I've tried 2 garden centres and they just don't sell them anymore...any ideas?Who made hogs and dogs and frogs?

Did your gnomes meet every single requirement stipulated above?
The ones I can find either have the wrong coloured hats, the wrong height, or are too modern...including the many local poundland gnomes!!!!
Considering buying the £8 one in Asda that does meet most of the requirements...looking after it all day, then returning it to Asda and gettting a refund!Who made hogs and dogs and frogs?
