Gumtree / Paypal help

Hi
I am advertising a SAmsung tablet on Gumtree & have been contacted & asked if I would send via recorded delivery to Coventry (from Glasgow). Buyer wants to pay via Paypal.
Should I go ahead or is this risky?
Can't think if it is an Ebay thing or Paypal when people can say not arrived & end up getting money back?
What do I need to provide for payment / how secure is the transaction from problems (would send special delivery etc).
Thanks for a speedy response with advise.

If only I could stop finding good bargains on this site, I would save a fortune! :rotfl:

No. Recorded covers you for £50 and is useless for recording delivery apropos a Paypal dispute.
Gumtree is for CASH. Face to face.0 -
Gumtree is meant for cash on collection transactions. It's never a good idea to be paid by Paypal and send the item.
I'm sure someone else will be along with more info/advice, but I wouldn't accept a Paypal transaction when using Gumtree.0 -

^This.
You said they stated Recorded (now Signed For) but you said Special Delivery later on. They are two different things and, as above, recorded would not cover you.
You might already know that which is why you stated that but just to make sure...0 -

Sorry to clarify, I have re-read email contact which said
"send recorded post , i can send you payment via paypal, as it is secure and guaranteed, "
Kinda feeling it's a no as others have said above, really for face to face cash payment. Rather be safe than take risks hence asking as not been faced with this before.
Thanks for quick posts. If only I could stop finding good bargains on this site, I would save a fortune! :rotfl:0 -
Not sure how much you know on selling this way so just to add, cash on collection and sold as seen. Sometimes people think they can get a refund, but in case that happens just remember to not give in.
Also double check all the cash when given it. You don't want to risk getting fake notes or blank paper between a few real notes.0 -

Thanks again for your advise. Have sold quite a few things face to face but maybe not so many higher priced things. Contacted the potential buyer and said only selling face to face and have now a possible buyer locally. Will check monies while they are here . Mind you wouldn't know what to look for other than the 'silver line' and hallmark????? to spot a fake.
Thanks againIf only I could stop finding good bargains on this site, I would save a fortune! :rotfl:0
