Question about the 6 year rule

That is what should happen, whether it is another mainstream creditor that takes over the debt or a debt collector purchasing it. All details of the default record should remain the same, with just the exception of the change of creditor's name. The account record would then still be removed from the CRAs 6 years after the recorded default date, and the sale/transfer would not affect that.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

So should i send this debt company that the debt has been sold on to a statute barred letter or just ignore it, as they still keep sending letters, none of which i have acknowledged.0

Ignore. While you keep writing back to people they may view it as you "nibbling at the bait" and keep on writing to you, but if you just ignore them they will hopefully get on with ignoring you faster, and in the meantime you aren't wasting money on stamps. If you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything0

Just wondering........
If you ignore these letters, will they eventually go away? My husband has a 12 year old debt being chased and it's for less than £100! I would love them to stop wasting stamps and trees!
Also, does the whole 6 year thing mean that a debt would no longer feature on say a credit file? I'm none to sure about these things.

Well if they are trying to confuse me, they are doing a good job, today i recieved a letter from lowell, not the company who had been sending the letters, lowell had passed it on to them by the looks of it. The one from lowell today was a statement of account for the same debt for the period 01/10/2008-31/12/2003, im quite sure October 2008 was when i sent the statute barred letter, cant remember if it was them or anoher company, but there is definetly nothing on my crdit report ive checked with all 3 agencies. Very confused.0
