Debit card fraud

My DS has had a fraudulent transaction made on his debit card. The Halifax have paid his massive charges on his mobile phone bill for phoning them to try and sort it out and reversed the charges accrued due to going overdrawn, but he has to ring the company that made the charges to get them reversed, they are in India, 0866 number!

Surely it is up to the bank to follow this up, not my DS?

Surely. If it really was an unauthorised transaction then Halifax are giving your DS runaround.

Why did he call that company...? Did Halifax tell him to?

Your son should only have to deal with Halifax.

He hasn't rung them Halifax told him to. They are the ones that told him it was fraudulent when he rang them to ask what is this transaction, they cancelled his card, have reimbursed overdraft fees and reimbursed call charges, one would think that this means they accept that.

They should have reimbursed the unauthorised transaction as well - at least until/if they prove that it was authorised.
  • if they prove it is fraud, then they should just take the money back, not up to your hubby to sort,

Speak to someone else at Halifax.

Be clear that this is fraud, and as such, you expect them (Halifax) to reverse the transaction from your account straight away.
