Hi all,
I've just switched to EON and got a letter stating the amount of DD that will be deducted per month, it was set at £79.50 for dual fuel. It appears less than I paid with my old supplier which was at least 100£ per month in winter if not more. Should I Just wait and give monthly readings or can I ask them to take a bit more just to be covered?
I understand that this will be a lot less in Summer and might even out but they say that they will refund any balance if it is more than 5£ in credit direct to my bank account so I'd rather overpay and get a refund later than underpay and have to owe a large sum at once because if I understand correctly they only review the DD once a year.
Thanks

Hi donfanatico
We review Monthly Direct Debits every quarter. However, if necessary, we only change them at the annual and six monthly reviews. The other times, we'll let you know if we think it needs to change but leave it up to you to decide if you want to do this or not.
You're spot on about the annual review. Any credit balance over a fiver will be automatically refunded to your bank at this time.
Thought you might be interested in a tool we've introduced on our website to give customers more control over their Monthly Direct Debits.
It's called the Direct Debit Manager. It allows you to change the monthly payments by up 20 per cent up or down, provided the account is billed up to the latest meter readings. Or, up to 5 per cent up or down without readings.
This gives you the ability to adjust the payments should your circumstances change.
Before completing the change, though, we'll let you know how much we anticipate the account will be in debit/credit by the time of the annual review if the change is confirmed but usage doesn't alter accordingly.
You can keep an eye on your payments through the website, too.
When entering meter readings online, we give you the option of either seeing the balance they'll create or actually raising a bill. Except, that is, when a bill is due. In this instance, entering readings automatically generates a bill.
If you feel there's too much credit or not enough, you can use the Direct debit Manager to adjust.
Hope this is of interest. Let me know if you need any more details as will be happy to help.

Thanks Malc, no that answers my question. The level of control within my online section is able to satisfy my needs in that case although I haven't managed to find this section in 'My Account' yet as I am in the middle of switching right now and it hasn't probably been finalised yet.0

Hi donfanatico
If the switch is still going through, you won't have all the online options at the moment.
Don't worry, once fully live, you'll be able to use all the different tools.
