    Thank you all very much for the replies, sounds like I should stick with the VLS 100 and ride it out then, maybe as I get nearer to my target retirement date I can slowly start switching it out for bonds (or maybe even cash if interest rates are better by then)

    Going to keep a track of the HL fees once they're announced and maybe slowly start to switch out rather than doing any knee jerk reactions now, like you said pip I could actually end up spending a lot more switching the funds than I would have paid in fees anyway.

    Another alternative if you can take the risk is to opt for a long term holding in an Investment Trust, perhaps Witan would fit the bill as it is seemingly back on decent performance after the failed attempt at passives. It wouldn't be for me but over at Motley Fool one forum user regularly reports their sole investment is in Foreign & Colonial IT.
