Should this be on my credit file?

hi

i recently (early october i think) signed up to a orange pay monthly SIM only contract which is one of their 30-day rolling contracts.

for reasons related to this, i have had a look at my equifax credit report yesterday

however, on the 'credit agreements' section there is no mention of this contract even existing. there is a history of a search/check being made when i originally signed up

so my questions are:

should this be on my credit record? (im assuming yes)

could it take longer to show up than nearly 2 months? (seems a long time in this day and age to me!)

thanks

It is likely to be on at least one of your credit files. Have you checked experian and noddle as well?

It could take up to a couple of months to appear, unlikely to take much longer than that.

  • no i have only checked equifax

i did try noddle but it said it couldn't verify me automatically, i have no idea why, so it wouldn't let me continue (tried again and double checked everything. Nothing has changed for years and accepted for 2 current accts this week, so not sure why they couldn't verify me!)

    thanks

It is NOT a credit agreement. A phone contract is for service, not credit and indeed you are not allowed credit, you must pay the bill on presentation. The section you refer to us for CCA regulated arrangements, nothing more.

I have an old orange phone. It was a pay as you go type. No monthly charge.

But i just paid for the calls at the end of each month. No calls and there was no charge. Ideal for the wife who made very few calls. But if needed she could make as many as she needed without worrying about the credit.

Showed on my experian file when i checked recently. Even though it has not been used for a good few years.
I switched it on recently and it still works, Number still valid.

  • Back when I had a sim only 30 day plan that was showing on all 3 of my reports. It could be the company you are using only report to one of the CRAs you've not checked.

Busby - in the credit account section of your credit report you can these days find a wider selection of accounts than CCA regulated agreements. Check out the MSE credit rating guide. So mobile phone contracts can certainly feature.
