Shared ownership - what would be reasonable solicitor fees?

I'm buying a 25% share on a 310k flat in central London. The solicitors I've asked for quotes from are all recommended as experienced in shared ownership. They've all quoted around £1300-1500. I was expecting up to a grand...

Do you think I could get it for less, or did I underestimate? Should I attempt to negotiate? If so, any tips on the best approach?

Particularly interested in hearing from people who've also been through the shared ownership process.

    I estimate about £1,100 around the Midlands.

    That's fee, VAT, disbursements and an allowance for the lease having to be inspected.

  • A friend of mine recently purchase a shared ownership prop in Birmingham,. £800 was the total. Your in London so I suspect you may pay more up there if using a local firm.
