Dehumidifier or open windows
I have a problem with humidity in my house.
There are 2 possible solutions
1) Use a dehumidifier which costs electricity
2) Open windows which means that we lose heat and we need to put the heating on earlier than we would.
Which one do people think is cheaper? I should do the sums but I haven't had a chance yet and I am hoping that someone else has.

Use both.
The electricity costs of a dehumidifier is very low compared to the large savings through having a more comfortable atmosphere at a lower temperature.
And you want to open the whole house up for an airing as many days as convenient regardless. The heat lost does not matter (although it is better if possible to do it morning or early afternoon - but if that is not available don't fret.)0 -

My dehumidifier costs about 10p an hour which isn't too much to pay.
We have it on between 4 and 8 hours a day a few times a week in different rooms.0 -

I assume it was tongue in cheek & that it was obviously meant as use one at a time but I had to :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:funniest thing I've read this week!0 -
I do both but I don't have the window open in the room with the dehumidifier running. Ie I have the bedroom window open in the morning to air but the dehumidifier on in the lounge to bring the humidity levels up which makes the room feel less damp and more warmer. And visa versa. But I don't use the dehumidifier every day.0

Get a Dehumidifier. As said they dont cost much to run mine when on uses less than 300w around 5-6p an hour. When I first got it it was on a fair bit now its hardly ever one and humidity is 50%. I also dry some washing in house too only sign of any condensation is on a very cold morning and only a slight bit on windows and some on front porch which is 50% glass and that's only when someone leaves inside door to porch open. We also use a extractor fan for cooking sometimes and bathing
I also make sure any outside walls dont have furniture and anything else other than rads on them this allows air to dry any walls out if you do have something close to a outside wall allow a small gap. We do have some in built cupboards which did get a small amount of mold which I cured with bleach, polystyrene insulation, think wallpaper and condensation paint I also allow them to get air too0
