I am sure people post these all too often so here's mine for the day.
We put in an offer on a house on Monday, AIP and savings account details all ready to provided once they were asked for. But no this bloody agent has to do things differently. They will pass on our offer as legally they have to. But until we've seen their mortgage advisor they won't tell us the answer. That can't be till next Tuesday at the earliest.
So I potentially am going to waste my time and theirs going through a whole load of stuff that's none of their business as I already have a mortgage sorted and the offer isn't even accepted yet.
The guy I spoke to told me that there were many reasons for doing it this way, one being they can advise the sellers if we are actually able to pay more. Now we all know thats the only reason, but to actually admit it :eek: I made it abundantly clear there is no relationship between what we can afford and what we are willing to pay as long as the first is higher than the last.
No need for advice but sympathy and virtual gin appreciated

I know, I know. I actually don't know what else to do. They are telling me that loads of people phone up a bank getting an AIP without proving their income so they won't believe one of them, that's why they want salary details etc. But they don't want references or pay slips. I am seriously tempted to tell them to shove it but I did actually like the vendors and the house has great potential.0 -
Doesn't sound a big deal. In a seller's market, when buyers compete for houses, vendors can be picky and go for the offer which is most robust, and once or twice when offering, I've had a session with the EA's In-House or tied finance expert (who usually happens to be a mortgage fixer- not my idea of a useful occupation - but otherwise how would they earn a crust?). Reassured them I'm not a wierdo or time waster. Never bought nuffink, as I have usually sorted my own mortgage prior with mainstream lenders... But it means the EA can look their client in the eye and say "this is a good 'un"
On the other hand, its not quite a sellers' market everywhere (altho it is, round here, for the best props) and its free country so you can walk away or tell 'em to go forth and procreate...
And how exciting that you've found the right house- which is what matters. So go for it and jump their silly hoops- be nice to the poor geek in the office - spread a little happiness!0 -
I tried to be nice, I really did. We were buying next door and it appears they have already put in a word (good or bad I'm not sure as it didn't get to completion there ;-) ) There's tonnes of similar houses, things only selling at the right price and the experience of missing out before means I'm not too emotionally invested yet. Something else will come up if this isn't meant to be, its not the bargain of the century and I can afford to pay more for something in better condition. Plus no chain and a 35% deposit, we're a good bet!
Oh and they're not the main agent in this area so if we do tell them FO we've only limited about 5% of the current market by never dealing with them again0 -

Thought of that but they don't live in the house so no way of contacting them. I will try if I feel the EA is pulling a fast one, they are currently being irritating gobs**tes but no more as yet.
For all I know the offer has been accepted, they just won't tell me until I've showed them my passport!0 -
Have to ask what went wrong with the house next door? If you pulled out, excpectthe neighbours hwve said something, if vendors changed their minds its another story!Pawpurrs x

You could get your solicitor to verify your financial status and decline to play their ridiculous games.0

unless you elaborate on why next door fell through then i can see why the EA is acting the way they are,your obviously not being taken seriously.Never, under any circumstances, take a sleeping pill and a laxative on the same night.0
