Good Evening All,
This is going to upset everyone and I don't know a single other person who shares this view but the City Hall Christmas Market - much to do about nothing. I'll admit it's a nice novelty and it looks great, however it's overpriced with limited variety and many of the items for sale are absolute rubbish.
Okay I'm going to take cover now but I'd be interested in your views.

I only buy soaps from the soap guy, he lives in France and sells the L'Occitane style soaps far cheaper than L'Occitane. I buy every year and stock up until he returns.
I do not buy or eat the food or anything else for that matter.0 -

I am with you on this one. My wife and i visited two weekends ago and were disappointed. The craft stalls are even less than before and the majority of space seems to be given over to alcohol consumption. I noted the large Lavery's marquee had bouncers on the door, and drunk people stumbling about the food stalls close by. This at 5.30pm.
having gone in a lot of the previous years, i wont be in any hurry back next year. maximizing alcohol consumption seems to the common nominator.0 -
St George's market is far better0

I think overall it is very poor value for money. Take a few kids and get drinks burgers and crepes and youre looking at about £40+!!!
St Georges definitely better option in my opinion - and your money is going to LOCAL traders as well.I am a Financial Adviser specialising in Mortgages, Protection, Health and Medical Insurance. Has anyone noticed that the ground in there is incredibly slippy? I made the mistake of going in there in heels last week and nearly came a cropper. I reckon it's all the dripping burger juices (ugh)
Not my thing but I have to say it is popular..
The macaroons are top class though!0 -

Tbh ALL the Christmases markets are the same.
Just been Hyde park and Liverpool. And whilst they are twice, three times the size, they all sell the same !!!!! at the same prices0 -
Agree with all above, overpriced and overhyped and it makes the front of the City Hall look like a shanty town.
St George's market traders are there trying to make a living all year round, paying rates as they go; they don't have the luxury of being able to parachute in for the lucrative time of the year then skedaddling!
While the novelty of it when it started all those years ago was nice, it is maybe time to rest it for a while at least.0 -
Glad I'm not the only one who feels this way. I passed by today at midday and it was bunged with people, nearly every other person had a burger in their hand.0

Called in this morning - dreadful this year - take the fast food and bars out of it and there is very little else. Poor quality tat being sold compared to previous years. Probably spoilt by being at the Edinburgh Market which is much more up market, great range of Christmas stalls - all in all vastly superior.0
