Mute facility on mic ?

Hi Does anyone know if there s a mute facility on the microphone on an iPad 2 please. I know there's a mute button for the pad itself but this is specifically for the mic. Thank you.

Dont think you can disable the mic just on its own. Most apps use it / dont use when required

You can't mute the mic unless you are in an app and mute it there (e.g. Skype/Facetime/etc)
Alternatively, if you have headphones with a built in mic, when you plug them into the iPad that mill mute the internal mic. If the headphones have a mute button, then that will mute the mic on them too.
Not ideal, but possibly an option.

Ok good thanks. I d like to mute it when on Skype how do I do it please ?

Step 1
Locate the white microphone icon in the middle of the Skype chat screen. This controls the audio functions of the Skype app.

Step 2
Tap the microphone icon to mute your call. The icon will display a red diagonal line indicating the mute status. You will also see a large box with the words “Call Muted” displayed in the middle of the screen.

Step 3
Tap the microphone icon again to un-mute the call. The icon will return to normal, the “Call Muted” box will disappear and you will be able to speak with the other user again.
