ParkingEye Charge For Overstay

Afternoon ladies and gents,

I have had a good read through the threads, and have gathered some useful information thank you.

The reason for this is that I recently moved from Scotland to England, and it being a very long journey left me very tired half-way through. Of course following road-safety advice I took refuge in an empty service station (unfortunately in England) very early morning for a nap so I didn't go killing innocent drivers in a fatigue-induced stupor.

I purchased some goods, had a quick nap and left... only to be informed a 2 weeks later by my old landlord that I had a NTK 'reminder', no initial letter, just a reminder from PE of an outstanding charge for being over the time allowance by minutes, captured by ANPR.

I have a problem now, PE have my old address of car from DVLA, rented, and there is nobody there to forward letters on as the building is now pretty-much abandoned and being sold, or inform me of responses to appeals etc. I HAVE appealed to PE, and also complained to the service station management, following the guidance wording about loss and requesting POPLA code etc, but I didn't realise they only work by letter... which I cannot get to... as its in a different country (sorta / nearly) :(

What do we think is the best plan of action of this? I want to change my car to new address, but now at a loss of how to continue.

Any help would be very much appreciated.

check the newbies thread at the top of the page, decide from that what you think is best , given the circumstances

    ideally you

    1) complain to landowner (or retailer)
    2) appeal to the PPC
    3) appeal to POPLA if the PPC declines the appeal and sends a POPLA code

the above applies to england and wales , not scotland
  • Hi Redx, so far I have done the top two, the landlord came back with a generic 'not our problem, talk to PE' email.

And as mentioned I wont be able to see the PE response letter or POPLA code as it'll be going to an empty building up t'north.

in that case all I can really see as a way out is to name the driver and their registered uk address , then take it on as the driver

but I am no expert on this

You need to put in a postal redirect - this can be all done online.

Regards the landowners response ( I assume you mean landowner not landlord ) - go back to him / her / them and point out it IS their problem and if it ends up in court you will be naming them in a case to counter sue for harassment. THEY employed Parking Eye so THEY are responsible.

When you get the POPLA code from the PPC ( i.e. point 2 ) then come back here and bounce this thread for further help.
  • Please can one of the regulars can tell me if I'm going wrong here....
I take from the original post that the address that the NTK went to is in Scotland. The poster has now moved to England. Why can't the OP just write back to PPC and state that "POFA doesn't apply as I reside in Scotland. Thanks and good bye."

PPC don't know they have moved. Forwarding mail is irrelevant as the OP is now in ignore mode. Everyone's a winner.

Maybe I have it completely wrong though.

I agree - but would still suggest that POPLA is best if the OP can use the code in time. With a POPLA decision in the motorist's favour he/she can be certain that the charge is cancelled, no ifs or buts.

And I see the OP says that ONLY a reminder was ever posted - this is getting silly because ParkingEye keep doing this:

    http://parking-prankster.blogspot.co.uk/2013/11/parkingeye-postal-chaos-prankster.html

Needs a complaint to the BPA Ltd too (all the time using the Scotland address if a postal addy is mentioned & of course all the time not implying who was driving!).
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Yeah, totally agree with you on that. Knowing it's gone and will not bite you on the bum later.

I was just hypothesising, without having to set up a mail redirect.
