Energy price shenanigans

Just got a call from the company I have moved from Scottish Power, giving me a new fixed price option which is cheaper than the fix price one I have just moved too (edf) - and they are offering to move me back for January - is this common at the moment? My thoughts are that I should wait and see how other options pan out??

But how long is the SP fix, compared to EDF?
Check the accuracy of their 'cheaper' claim on any comp site, armed with your annual kWh figures.
Fixes are not going to get any cheaper over the winter.

Interesting - I checked the ScotishPower tariff the chap was touting on a comparison website against the edf tariff I have moved to. The comparison site suggests if I had said yes it would have a cost me £44 rather than saving me £148! The prices per unit he quoted were excluding tax !

All in all I am now VERY unimpressed with SP - The guy was as far as I can see blatantly misleading me.

Glad I refused to allow him to sign me up there and then - it just goes to show how careful you have to be. I honestly would have thought they would have learnt their lesson on mis-selling by now!!

Never sign up on a cold call. Even if they were cheaper, use a comp site or cashback site and keep the commission for yourself.

I`ve only just switched from SP to EDF and I had a similar call from SP two days ago.
What he quoted was a monthly DD amount not the actual tariff they would put me on.
He said I would have to stay with EDF this month and switch back in Jan.

Shouldn`t these so called retention people be calling you BEFFORE the actual switch and not a couple of days after?
    A bunch of chancers.
