Just a quick line to let people know about 3's new policies. After calling them about a fault with my Xperia S (built in battery) I was grilled on my charging habits, I was then informed that because I had been using a car charger other that one bought from 3 or Sony(proof of purchase required) then I has voided my warranty. It seems you can longer just go to any shop and buy a car charger. I'd this correct?

Check the instructions with the Xperia.
Most devices have some sort of caveat in there about using 3rd party/unapproved chargers.1. Have you tried to Google the answer?
2. If you were in the other person's shoes, how would you react?
3. Do you want a quick answer or better understanding?0 -

Its been the case for many products for a long time .
Saves them paying out for devices blown by cheap Chinese chargers .0 -
There's an EU directive that wants to standardise all phones to 5v USB charging, so as to avoid the extra landfill when phones get scrapped.
Following on from this, O2 have even gone so far as to trial scrapping supplying chargers with any phone

so O2 and Three are going in exactly opposite directions.
Will be amusing to see how this one pans out.0
