There will always be "Exceptions" be it those who "genuinely" requirethe time/money and those who "take the pi.ss"

It's just a case of what is the purpose of these parking areas and how should they be managed. From what I am led to believe they are there for the "quick turn around" on the main town/city streets. if someone with mobility issues needs a bit of extra time.. ok give them "double time" i.e. 2 hrs rather than one... But Unlimited and Free !!

I think this is more to do with convenience for disabled users. Generally anyone with a blue badge needs to be as close as possible to their destination and will require longer to carry out their business. I genuinely understand your concern about those who are extracting the Michael but really isn't that more to do with the people who are dishing out the blue badges rather than the recipients?

Then again, not every disablement is visible. Someone may look perfectly ok but may have heart problems, spinal problems or something else internal.

I know this because I have a spinal disablement. I look perfectly ok but I can't stand up for more than a few seconds. I can manage ok if I walk for a few yards but then it gets too much and I have to rest and take the weight off the site of the injury. Things have got a little better since I started to take morphine based drugs but once the pain sets in there's nothing I can do to stop it.

So, if you saw me parking in one of these 1 hour spots, putting my blue badge up and walking to a shop I could understand if you thought there was nothing wrong with me. No matter how painful it gets I'll still look the same.

Would knowing this about someone influence your thoughts in any way?
  • After all that, I still have'nt got an answer.
