Part paying with credit card - still protected?

OH is about to shell out a good few thousand for a motorbike this weekend. Dealer has told him if he pays by credit card then he will have to pay a 2.5% surcharge.

We have the actual cash sitting here, so don't need credit but I've got a niggle that says paying cash is not a good idea.

Could we pay most of it in cash and a small amount £100/£200 with a credit card just so we have some sort of comeback....or is that just not how it works? 2.5% on £100/£200 isn't that much so are we better to do that or not?

Any advice welcome. TIA.
