Do I need favours?

I am getting married in Sept 2014 and as my OH has such a large family we are trying to look for ways to save money before our budget stretches too much.. Do you think we could get away with having no favours? Thinking about the last weddings I went to they were only a few sweets (which I ate straight away) so not sure if people would notice or not if we didn't have any?

I've been buying the tins of Roses, Quality Street, Hero's, Celebrations on the cheap also bought ferrero roche when they were on offer the other week I'm getting married in April so got them with plenty of date on them. xx 0

I'm going to make sweetie trees with them, and I've also got some jars and scoops for other sweets that I'm getting from Costco/Makro

I don't think it detracts from the wedding if you don't have them. We are having some but I got caught up in wedding fever and could have saved myself money by not bothering - which I wish I had done!Married 30/08/14 :heartpuls0

I'm trying to convince the OH that we don't need them. It'll just be a little sweet. They're getting a 3 course meal, cake and booze for free so if someone gets a bit miffed over a little sweet then they can jog on!0

We're not having favours coz of the cost of them. Mil2b has kicked up coz apparently we have to have them but every wedding I've been too they have just been left on the tables. We are having a sweet table but more coz me and oh love sweets than for favours lol everyone is getting a 3 course meal plus drinks plus a buffet on night so I think we are providing more than enough :-) xxxDebt free finally :j

MY Daughter made her own favours (chocolate). Now while they looked nice on the tables most were left and I guess ended up in the bin.
