First Utility - Woes
Options
Recently moved home and switched suppliers First Utility have over estimated our Direct Debits and owe us approximately £200 i'm having issues getting the money out of them.
I've tried phone and email (no reply) to get the money back but so far no luck. Has anybody got some suggestion to take this further.
Thanks

Are you sure they have overestimated your DD, or is it that you are £200 in credit? If you are sure they have over done the DD your options would/could be;
ask them to lower it
cancel DD if its not a condition of your contract and set up a Standing Order for another amount, or manually pay the money to them each month.
revert to quarterly bill payment and set some money aside each month to cover the bill.
A lot of energy companies are too quick nowadays to try and take more than is actually necessary to cover your use but there are a lot of variables sometimes. You need to stick by your guns is my advice, remind them it is your money not theirs and don't back down until your happy with the end result. You need to make sure you are going to be paying enough though to cover your use, so you don't get any nasty shocks.
Hope that helps and just keep going till they answer the phone............ eventually.0 -
On what date did you move and submit closing reads? 4-5 weeks to raise the final bill is not unusual.No free lunch, and no free laptop0
