That machine already has Windows 8, so why would you wish to install a possibly hacked version of Windows 8 Pro?
Was the Ethernet adapter working when first used the machine?
Anyway, there is an update from Windows 8 to 8.1 available.

Back up your important data and run a Factory Restore.

Thanks I will do a factory Restore now luckily I haven't got and important data on my laptop
