Houses for sale and rent...grrrrr

I am looking at rental houses at the moment for a long tem let and I'm very annoyed that when I see something I like it is often also for sale. Why is this?
If I rent it will I need to have people round to view or will they take it off the market once it's let? More confused than a rant  :wall:

I believe a Rightmove survey showed that most new landlords are of the 'accidental' type i.e. people who choose to rent out their first property rather than sell (unless they get a very good price).
It's certainly the way to go these days. You'd be daft to let go of your first property if you can cover any voids. People are increasingly aware that UK housing is becoming a scare resource, and highly optimistic of future price gains and rent rises.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If it's on for a sale I'd run away to be honest. The landlord wants their cake and to eat it. They may try and convince you they'll take it off the market but there's nothing to stop them giving you a 6 month tenancy agreement and then turfing you out in the Spring

Or they'll try and sell it with you in situ and expect you to do viewings.
If you're looking for a long term let I'd avoid these with a barge pole.
