Hello,
I've an hotmail account (it's called outlook now) and I've noticed is that sometimes when I click the reply or forward button, the format of the email changes and every line has > arrow. Is there anyway to turn off this feature?
Here is an example. So my content of the email that I received is this.
"Hello,
My name is Bob
I love animals"
When I click reply or forward the content of the email changes to
">Hello
>My name is Bob
>I love animals"

The presumption is that you want to add something when you reply or forward it, and this is done to show the extent of what you're forwarding, or what you're replying in comparison with the text you add - which won't have the > in front of it.
I can't imagine why anyone wouldn't want this.0 -
I can't see anything in the Hotmail (or Outlook as it now is) settings, and to be honest I didn't expect there to be anything.
You'll have to do it manually.- Open the email you want to forward
- Use the mouse to highlight all the text and then copy it ([CTRL] + [C])
- Open the reply or forward view
- Highlight all of the text
- Paste in the original text ([CTRL] + [V])
But as googler says, the chevrons are there for a reason. If you remove them it might confuse people, and they'll think you wrote all the text yourself.0 -
Thanks guys.
The reason I don't want those chevrons is because I forward my emails to a note application and it messes up the formatting of my note.
I guess a workaround would be to copy the email

Well that sounds like a pretty good reason to remove them.
How do you get the emails into the note application? If it's designed to have them forwarded to it like an email then it might have an option to remove the chevrons automatically.0 -
When I reply in outlook.com (that is, using the webmail website) I get a divider like this:This is my reply
From: Someone@somewhere.com
To: Jivesinger
Subject: Test message
Date: Sat, 16 Nov 2013
This is the original message that I'm replying to
So if you're using Outlook.com it should be possible to change it to use that style of reply, rather than chevrons (although I can't find the option on a quick look).
If you're using an email client (eg. Thunderbird, Outlook 2010, Windows Mail) then there might be an option in there to change the style of reply.
Are you using webmail in a browser or using some software to read emails?0 -
Copy and paste the text instead of using forward.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0
