mysearchdial taken over as default search

I seem to have acquired mysearchdial as the default search browser in my firefox 26 browser in the top right hand corner. I have removed it through the tools > add ons and removed programs with that name through the standard windows uninstaller. I have also run latest version of malwarebytes, but it still remains.

I've just realised there's a removal tool within the box itself, this seems to have worked! I will run a full scan tonight as well.
  • There's a long web based article which looks pretty thorough there:

So many quite decent programs seem to try to foist this stuff on people. I wish there was a site that specified the trickier ones.

    good luck

Most of these Search Bars/Toolbars, are installed as a result of downloading something else. Whenever you download something, look carefully all over the webpage, look for a checkbox that may say something like "Would you like to install ******" - or - "We recommend that you install *****".

They sneak them in, usually in very small print. the website gets paid for this.

If it happens again, I recommend that you download the paid-for version of MalwarbytesPro.
I think this job really needs
    a much bigger hammer.

I recall it was an 'audacity upgrade popup' and I managed to download some other !!!! which was easier to get rid off. Normally I'm on my guard but was in a rush, big mistake! Fuming, swearing at the thing.

Might be coincidence, but there seems to be occasional short spasms of interference when playing back music, as if there is some program coming in the background. Then again it might have happened before.
