Professional carpet clean - lifted carpets

Our tenancy ends shortly and we have had the carpets professionally cleaned as per the tenancy agreement.
Went round to the property today and the cleaning process has moved the carpets away from the walls in places so it appears the carpet has shrunk. In one other place the carpet has moved away from the threshold leaving a gap and a raised bit of carpet. You can't flatten it down as it has moved unevenly.
The carpets appear to be pretty old, and we were the first tenants.
Any thoughts as to where does this leave us with regard to our deposit? The problem has arisen as a result of us complying with the tenancy agreement. I have emailed the carpet cleaner (incidentally recommended by the LA) to ask for his view as to why the problem has occured.

It is a good idea to be alone in a garden at dawn or dark so that all its shy presences may haunt you and possess you in a reverie of suspended thought.
