Exactly. It's not your job to go back to the manufacturer. That's what the engineer has to do.

The only time there might be a slight query on it is if you insisted on a particular boiler, the engineer advised against it, but you still told him it had to be that one.
Even then, it's still his responsibility. He supplied the item. You bought it off him. He is responsible.

We had some wooden bi-fold doors fitted a couple of years ago. They had a 10 year manufacturers guarantee. The paint was bubbling on one of them and there was a small crack at one of the joins. I phoned the builder who had supplied and installed them, he came out, took a few photos, agreed that they should not be like that and said he'd come back to me.
Two weeks later he phoned to say that the manufacturer would be calling me. They called to arrange a date when their engineers would come out and replace all the doors - not just the one which was faulty. In total it took 5 weeks from when the builder came out until the new doors were hung. It would have been quicker, but I was away the first two dates they suggested.
