Spending in China and Aus

Next year we will be spending nearly 4 weeks in China and Australia :j but I am confused about the best way to take money with us.
I have a capital one cashback credit card and an HSBC visa debit at the moment. I booked the internal flights in Australia using my debit card as that had the least fees attached. I don't want to carry too much cash around at one time and I usually use a credit card for most of my transactions in the UK.
Would I be best loading up my UK bank account and using the HSBC card whilst out there and will it be accepted in most places?
Or should I look at one of those pre-paid currency cards or even a new credit card? ( I don't mind applying for a new card I know my credit score is good.) I will probably also need to access cash through an ATM I would have thought at some point.
Would one card work best for both countries?
Hope that makes sense and thanks in advance!

    HSBC ??

    Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation

    I reckon you'll be okay :)
Change is inevitable, except from a vending machine.

I don't know about China but all the usual fee free card suspects... N&P, Metro and Halifax Clarity etc. are probably your cheapest option for Australia. We have used a Clarity there with no problems or charges (just pennies in interest) and will be again for the next month or so.
