    A carbon monoxide detector is only essential for open flued appliances, and not just gas, this is not an open flued appliance which is why an inspector would not recommend ;)

    Its also another reason why an RGi MUST be used for gas appliances so that as a qualified person he is able to check correctly on room sealed appliances that all the seals do not emit any fumes ;)
