Just a small vent this at the moment, but I wanted to get it off my chest!
I'm in the market for a new laptop, and looking at the Dell website on Monday I saw they had a 10% off voucher for XPS and Inspiron models, to coincide with Black Friday/Cyber Monday. The voucher code was displayed at the top of page and said it was valid until "midnight on Monday 2 December".
The 10% off meant I could get an Inspiron 15R for a good price, so I placed an order at about 11.30pm, input the voucher code, got the 10% off and went to bed pleased.
Dell have a system where they send you an 'Internet Order Acknowledgement', and then a separate order confirmation when the payment has been taken and the order is going through. Today I still hadn't received the order confirmation so gave them a call. The woman in the call centre said that she could see the order hadn't gone through because of a "problem with the price".
It's irritating that I had to call them, after waiting over 24 hours, to find out there was a problem. Plus, I know have to wait up to 24 hours for the relevant department to call me back.
This will turn into a bigger vent if it turns out I can't get the laptop at the discounted price!
I was thinking if the voucher was actually meant to run out Monday morning (which I guess is technically midnight Monday), rather than Monday night but if that's the case, surely they shouldn't have the voucher code still up and allow the system to accept it?
Anyway, time will tell!

Midnight on Monday is 24:00 on Monday. So the voucher was valid until the expiry of the final minute of Monday 2nd December.
Tuesday started at 00:00.01 (1 second after midnight on Monday. In fact the millisecond, microsecond, nanosecond - whatever unit of time you want to use - AFTER midnight on Monday).0 -

Um, incorrect. There is no such time as 24:00:00. Monday finishes at 23:59:59.999999..., Tuesday starts at 00:00:00, but the terms "midnight" and "midday" are both confusing (at which point someone on here will say that we should be able to sue whoever invented words for time)
Is noon/midday AM or PM? Well, it's neither (based on the latin). In the same way that it could be argued that midnight is neither. If an offer says it finishes at 00:00:00 on Monday, then that's very early Monday. If it says it finishes at 23:59:59, then that's very late Monday.1. Have you tried to Google the answer?
2. If you were in the other person's shoes, how would you react?
3. Do you want a quick answer or better understanding?0 -
Well, fair play to Dell. There was no issue with the price in the end and the laptop has arrived today!0
