E.on credit in bank
Hi, I read a story in the papers last year about energy providers paying back overpayments due to direct debit payments and thought oh well we'll see. This morning I looked at my bank account and just over £100 goes into my bank account from E.on tomorrow. I believe I was with them a few years ago, I'm with NPower for the last few years, but I've had no letter at all and though I like people putting money in my bank account I don't feel I can spend it yet until I receive an email back from the company to say why I got it.
Anyone else received a payment this week or a letter to say they'll be getting one?

Hi Johnny68
This sounds like an issue we've recently identified. It affects some customers who either changed supplier or moved house quite a time ago.
We've discovered a mistake we made at the time these accounts closed. This is where we didn't refund the outstanding credit balance on some accounts following the final bill.
The customers affected have been identified and we're now putting this mistake right by refunding the balance plus interest.
Where possible, we'll refund the credit balance to the customer's bank account. Where we don't have bank details, we'll send a cheque.
We've discovered the cause of this mistake and made improvements to our processes to make sure this doesn't happen again.
If this is what you're referring to Johnny68, I'm really sorry this mistake was made in the first place.

I know if that is the case then it is my money anyway but great to get it without even trying. Will I get any acknowledgement from E.on as I emailed them today to verify as I don't want to spend it and find it's a mistake? Thank you for replying so quickly :-)0

Amazing how the Energy Cartel remember quite easily when customers owe money and send reminders at every opportunity with the help of debt collectors but when its the other way round it simply a mistake that's been recently discovered after 3 years followed by promises of improvements to processes!0

Well it was my money, horay :-) Yes bizarre that I've been owed money for so long and didn't even know. Malc was very quick and solved the problem instantly so thank you to him. I've used this site to move energy providers quite a lot over the years, wonder if I'll get any more credits for Christmas :-)0
