Hello everyone, just wondered if some of you lovely people can help me with something i am looking for, Cooking christmas dinner for 22 can get a bit complicated when it comes to dishing up and remembering who's plate is who's. I am looking for little metal springs that clip on to the side of a dinner plate and you can attach a name at the top of it, like a little flag pole type thing. I have spent the last 2 days trying to buy something like this and have failed any sugestions would be greatly recieved. Thank you

Put a scrap of paper with the name on next to the plate?
Make some by attaching a cocktail stick to a clip and putting a tab of paper like a flag on the stick?0 -
Use either a cocktail stick or bamboo skewer with a piece of paper (flag shape) stuck around the top with a name on one side and their meal on the other.Or simply a wooden peg with paper at one end and pegged onto the plate.Life is like a bath, the longer you are in it the more wrinkly you become.0

How about some crocodile clips like these (usually electronic components):

Is there any reason why you can't put the food out in serving bowls in the kitchen and everyone serves themselves? That is what we do in my familySmiles are as perfect a gift as hugs...

Hello springdreams, the problem i have is that 10 of the people are children who are all quite young so things could get quite messy if we allow them to help thereselves. The thing is i have seen these clip type things last year and for the life of me can not remember where.0

Would bulldog clips work? http://www.wilko.com/clips-pins-and-rubberbands/metal-clips-x-20/invt/02606720

Maybe a cocktail stick with name flag stuck into a roast spud??? They can be taken away from the little people once at the table0

Just buy a set of new wooden pegs (very cheap) and write the name on one side.....clip to the side of the plates and the job's a good 'un. They don't need to look wonderful because nobody outside the kitchen will see them
You can then reuse them for labelling the pudding bowls/plates

When serving up in the kitchen I always line the plates up in age order. Got this tip from my MIL, she had 7 children so it helped her lots. Not sure if this would work for so many people though. I still do it now even though months have married and moved on!Nothing Changes if Nothing Changes0

Would bull-dog clips do? You can buy them in various sizes.
My Mum and my MIL who have catered for large size gatherings either put all the food into serving bowls that went on either the table or in a section of the kitchen and people helped themselves. The childrens parent (or adult in charge of them) helped them get their portion before getting their own! Alternatively everyone was served everything on their plate and told to leave it if it was something they disliked, to stop the this one has carrots but no sprouts, this one just has sprouts and so on0
