Post Office free month insurance offer misleading

  • So when you buy some pasta sauce and it says on the label 20% extra free, do they put the price of it down or give you a larger jar of it? I didn't read the terms and conditions as I found it through confused.com, I was short of time and I had to rush off quickly to work. They never informed me over the phone that it was 11 months for the price of 12 as Mercilesskiller's girlfriend who works for the Post Office has been advised to do. If you lot were a jury, 11 to 12 is beyond reasonable doubt, I give in, I deserve what I get for not reading the terms and conditions, but I do have a busy work and social life and I really can't be bothered, I also can't be bothered to read all the smallprint bumff that comes through my letterbox everyday. As for having a 9.1% increase next year when I renew, I won't be renewing with them again, as I said previously they are £20 more than the other quotes I had, and I am like an elephant, I never forgive and I never forget and I still think they are a set of !!!!!! Turpins with marketing degrees bandits.

But it isn't advertised as a month 'extra free' like your pasta sauce example. It says a month free.

But as you say, it's done now.

No because buy one, means purchasing one and you get one free.

The word extra describes how much more of a product you might get. Buy one get one free does not require the word extra as it adequately describes the fact you'd buy one and get another free on it's own without the need of the word extra.

    I really can't be bothered

With respect, if you take that attitude to entering into a contract, I cannot see why you are complaining. The t & c's are ten lines long, hardly an essay.

I really would just put this down to a learning experience, and in future be bothered about what you are spending your money on!
    Gone ... or have I?

I'm sorry but it sounds like you're kicking down something and getting angry about someting that could be an otherwise good offer because you coldn't be bothered.

I was aghast reading this post. Surely it would be logical 12 mths at price of 11?

If you admit you can't be bothered, then I've no sympathy for you. Not trying to be rude, but I think it's utterly pointless having a gripe. I deal with people every day that can't be bothered and get all bent out of shape because of something they did themselves and try to point the blame elsewhere.

The small print could have said the free month related to a free 13th month, a free month after 3 years of using their company or anything. That's why offers are marked with * and it's worth taking the time to understand what you're paying for - the t&c are clear and literally took 2 minutes to read at their site. If you're not going to read them, then I would have asked whilst on the phone how the free month works and what date you'll be covered until. Unfortunate that you feel mislead but everything was there to avoid that happening.
After posting about receiving an email to my MSE username/email from 'Money Expert' (note the use of ' '), I am now unable to post on MSE. Such is life.
