I am going to buy a new computer as my gas powered one is now five years old and it is time to upgrade. I only use it for email and surfing the net, sometimes I use it with my digital camera. Can anybody tell me what is the difference between Windows Vista basic and premium. Thank you in advance

If you only use it for email and surfing the internet, why are you bothering to upgrade?

Vista Home Premium has a better graphical look (Aero) and also more facilities for multimedia, and can back up to DVD. both Basic and Premium have built in Parental controls (child filtering), which I am finding useful now my children are surfing on their own more - not because I am concerned they may want to look at something bad, but because it is so easy to accidentally find inappropriate sites. Visit http://www.microsoft.com/uk/windows/products/windowsvista/default.mspx to look at the different versions for yourself, and decide which ones you can live without, and then choose accordingly.
Hope this helps.0
